About This Game Welcome to Mojin: Steal & Extract! This is an extraction-survival game blending elements of looting (Mojin), avoiding enemies, eating to stave off hunger, and trying your best to survive and extract with your hard-earned cash—all so you can save up and buy a big house!
The game is heavily inspired by the excellent Ludum Dare 58 entry duckollector
Please note that this current release is a very early prototype/concept build. I plan to continuously update and polish the game right here. If you're interested, please follow the project. I will try my best to push out weekly updates. There are still a few minor bugs. For example, if you starve to death while eating a jar, your corpse will just keep eating.
⚠️ Known Issues (Please Read): Currently, most options in the Settings menu are non-functional (only basic graphics, resolution, and display modes work). Also, playing in Fullscreen or Borderless Windowed mode seems to cause frame drops. I haven't fixed this yet, so please play in Windowed Mode for the best experience.(It's been fixed)

Controls:
- W A S D - Move
- E - Eat canned food
- Left Mouse Button - Pick up items/Attack
- Right Mouse Button - Extract (You must be standing in the Extraction Zone)/Cancel attack
- Shift - Sprint
Development Roadmap (Coming Soon):
- New Enemy Types: Faster enemies and relentless chasers. (The logic is already coded and tested in UE5, I just need to place them into the levels!)
- Dynamic Weather System: Different weather conditions will impact gameplay and alter the pacing of your runs.
- Unique Shooting Mechanics: You won't start a run with a gun. Instead, after collecting 7 items, you will automatically equip a weapon with a single shot to take down one enemy.
- Shop Upgrades: Buy items like "Running Shoes" to reduce stamina consumption while sprinting.
- Tutorial & Story Synopsis: To help new players get into the groove. ...and much more!
Version 1.1 Update:- 1. Fixed a bug where enemies and items could spawn directly under your feet.
- 2. Taking damage while eating from a jar will now interrupt the eating action.
- 3. Added a red outline to enemies. They now look much more threatening and less like friendly NPCs.
- 4. Added the "Running Shoes" item to the shop. Purchasing them reduces stamina consumption while sprinting and speeds up stamina regeneration.
Version 1.2 Update:- 1. Added the giant chicken drumstick combat system. Now, every time you collect 7 items, you can pull out a giant drumstick to whack an enemy over the head.
- 2. Introduced two new enemy types. Some enemies will now actively track your position, while others move at a much faster speed.
- 3. Taking damage now triggers a red screen flash effect and camera shake.
- 4. The weather is now randomized each day. You can experience cloudy, rainy, blizzard, and sandstorm conditions.
- 1. Added a background image to the Main Menu.
- 2. Added specific gameplay effects for different weather conditions:
- Sunny: Everything is normal.
- Rainy: Hunger decreases faster, but movement speed is increased.
- Sandstorm: Health drains over time, but enemies spawn more slowly.
- Blizzard: Movement consumes more stamina, but enemy movement speed is reduced.
- 3. Defeating enemies now rewards you with cash, so feel free to smack them with the giant chicken drumstick.
- 4. Added enemy footstep sounds, allowing you to react quickly if they approach from behind, provided you are wearing headphones.
- 5. As the days progress, the variety of enemies will increase, and different enemies will have varying strength levels.
Version 1.4 Update:
- 1. Added options to adjust mouse sensitivity and invert mouse controls.
- 2. Fixed the issue where enemies turned too stiffly. They now feature smoother turning animations.
- 3. Updated the victory and defeat logic. The main goal is now to pay daily bills and survive. You win by surviving until Day 7 and paying your bills. If you cannot afford the bills, you will end up on the streets and lose the game. However, purchasing the house still grants an early victory.
- 4. Optimized game performance and stability. Fullscreen and Windowed modes are now supported. I still recommend locking the frame rate to 60 FPS unless you have a high-end PC.
